A School of Visual Arts (SVA) is an art school in New York City. It was established within 1947 by co-founders Silas H. Rhodes and Burne Hogarth as the Cartoonists and Illustrators School and was later renamed in 1956. Now a school is in the Gramercy and Chelsea areas of Manhattan, with the total of buildings catering to different art departments & student interests.

A todays undergrad degrees offered at SVA come: Advertising, Animation, Cartooning, Computer art, Film & Video, Fine Arts, Illustration, Interior Design, and Photography. Graduate courses within Art Criticism & Writing, Art Education, Art Therapy, Computer Art, Design, Fine Arts, Illustration as Visual Essay, and Photography, Video & Related Media are also available.
